Commercial Description:
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

500ml bottle at my departmental picnic - thanks to whoever brought this along. I’d not had this brew in a while and it went down very nicely on a dank evening. Cloudy orange pour with the nice, lively carbonation one wants from a solid German hefe. Banana and mild yeast in the aroma, some chewy malts in the taste along with a touch of hops to complement the spicy finish. Fine stuff.

Bottle. Poured an orange color with some haze. Head is thick and lasts forever. Strong wheat aroma with clove in the mix. Taste is light malt and fruits. Perhaps thin but still well made.

Most of my hefe experience comes from Widmer, so here goes. This had a bigger body, but more diminished citrus notes. Taste was slightly acidic. Well done but not amazing. Maybe a good session beer, I liked it.

A great beer. The flavor was unbelievable. It didn't taste like an average beer, it was really good. I would feel bad getting drunk to something as good as this. Absolutely great with lasagna.
