Commercial Description:
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

500 ml bottle - muddy orange with thin white head; cloves, bananas, yeasty, lemony goodness; full bodied with soft texture and flavors of creamy, wheat and cloves; definitely heavy on the cloves mixed with lemony sweetness; quite tasty overall

Pours a light yellow hazy brown with a large, pearly white head. Light yeasty aroma, with wheat and hay. A bit chewy, flavours have some orange rind, good malt and is very moist on the palatte. Clean finish if not the most interesting, it is extremely solid, enjoyable and drinkable.

Bottle. Pours cloudy orange/amber. Quickly disappearing white head. Bananas, a hint of spice and some strong yeast on the nose. Slightly thin and metallic on the palate. Flavors of roasted malt, dry/spicy yeast, clove and banana. Not too bad. Quite drinkable.

Bottle from BevMo. A nice dunkelweizen. Refreshing as hell. Hazy orangish brown color with a substantial head. Aroma of wheat, banana, and yeast. Flavor is more of the same, along with orange peel and other dried fruits. Smooth palate with medium carbonation.

I’m not a big fan of the Weisse style, but this was the only one I’ve tasted that I would buy again

Muddy golden in color. Aromas are oranges, wheaty spice and the classic cloves and bananas. The flavor is much the same with some hints of darker fruits and pepper, finishing quite cleanly. I expected a slightly denser offering, but this was a good crisp refresher.

Quite generous and nice looking head. It would be cool to do a seven-minute pour with this stuff, you could probably get the head like 6 inches above the glass! A bit lighter in color than most dunkles. Dry wheatiness in the aroma, immensely smooth mouthfeel with some well-balanced maltiness. Hints of complex fruitiness throughout, perhaps apples, pears, slight cloves, and maybe a hint of chocolate. Quite excellent!
