Commercial Description:
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

Vigorous head. Bready aroma. Medium brown color. Malt/yeast flavors predominate, but definate fruity notes. I thought it was OK, but then I'm not a big weissbier fan.

Nice, creamy frothy head, cloudy copper-colored body. Strongly cellared and musty-wheat aroma. Generally malty, but not overly, and pleasant. The flavor is slightly sweet, and mostly malty, with a hint of yeastiness. Thin, watery finish. Decent and drinkable.

Dark amber color with a big beige head. Strong yeast and malt aroma. Flavor of yeast, malt and a little fruit. A little acidic and has strong carbonation.

banana aroma with deep roast is reminiscent of banana bread without the spice. deep malt flavor accentuates the softer edges. great.

Fine appearing brew. Lightly cloudy copper color with massive off white head that is retained. Aroma is wonderful and akin to Celebrator, nicely malty and nutty with a bit of toffee. Flavor is delicious. Wheat flavor, some light banana, bit of apple juice a dash of spice and a clean dry finish. Man am I glad spring is here. I am love the Hefe's.

Big, foamy head. Beautiful unfiltered deep amber appearance. Malted, spicy aroma. Smooth on the palate - wheat, fruit, spices, yeast. So good!

Slightly darker than pale wheats. A fairly sweet finish. Muddyish flavor throughout. Unimpressive.

This Ayinger offering spills into my stemmed glass a rich, hazy copper colour and forms a billowy off-white head, tall and creamy. Strong yeast by-products dominate the aroma in the form of juicy bananas and sweet bubblegum. Behind that impression can be found woodsy, floral hops and a toasted malt accent. The flavour offers significantly more depth, bringing slightly tangy pecans and sweet, creamy apple butter together initially. At the finish is the soft presence of Prince of Whales tea with honey and softly sweet benne wafers. Pleasantly light notes of caramel appear in the aftertaste. Whereas the aroma is soft and sweet, the flavour brings in a building tanginess for balance. The body is suitably full for the style, not so thin as to feel lacking, nor so thick as to prevent refreshment. The creamy texture and fine, champagne-like carbonation aid in the imminent drinkability of this beer.
