Taste much the same with dark fruit up front and clove in the background. Very carbonated and a bit chewy. A solid brew but for the style try New Glarus Black Wheat. can8ianben (908), Pasadena, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 16, 2005 Not bad, it doesn’t stand out to me as more than a powerful wheat beer. It does have some very fine qualities, the spice in the nose is heavy, there is great cloudy amber/yellow colour, and it has good depth, but I wasn’t really drawn back to it. It has an interesting, almost sour, flavour to it. kseecs16 (907), Naperville, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 27, 2006 Pours a hazy deep amber with a moderate off-white head. The aroma is like a spicy bread with an underlying sweet wheat aroma. The flavor is sweeter than I expected what could be fruits mingle to taste like sugary bubblegum with very little lingering bitterness. It is foamy and smooth in the mouth, going down quite easy. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 18, 2003 Bottle pours a hazy brown orange with a nice head. The aroma is yeasty, and not much else. The flavor is yeasty and bread like in the finish with a bit of lingering fruit. The palate is somewhat nice for the flavor. Overall, I prefer the Ayinger Brau Weisse. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 23, 2009 Poured out a thick and creamy light tan crown with nice retention and splotchy lacing. The aroma is strong but not overpowering with banana bread, cloves and pink bubblegum. The flavour is really well put together with more banana bread and cloves, weak but rich malts and an underlying shortlived bitterness. Medium bodied with lots and lots of carbonation (not annoying), not really all that smooth for mouthfeel but there is obvious tartness throughout. Finishes fairly dry. Just picked up a caramel note? Well done although I’ll still take a non-banana bomb Hefe over it.
