Commercial Description:
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

Draught at brewery restaurent. Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Light amber colour. Very yeasty aroma and flavor. Nice oily fluffy palate. A very good hefe.

Banana, caramel and chocolate with some citrus tones and a lovely soft spiciness in the doughy aroma that seems malty but light. Hazy amber-tan coloured body is topped by generous off-white head that recedes slowly to a lasting cover. Caramel and banana flavours are apparent but somewhat subdued after the promise of the aroma. Citrus and cloves also make appearances with none taking the spotlight. Strong carbonation and medium-light body that is very dry and well-attenuated. Lager glass, fridge temp. Bottle (Winooski Beverage Warehouse, Nov. 2004).

Poured with a large white head, Cloudy dark copper body. Lots of bubbles in my hefe glass. Aroma of lemons, cloves and some bread. The taste is bananas, peaches and watermelon. The background has a touch of cloves. The finish is a little sweet. This is a nice solid and subtle beer. I am glad to see that Ayinger is even in one of my local grocery stores.

That good old Bavarian banane aroma. Along with clove. Hazy dark amber color with a light beige head that’s multifingered. Medium bodied, and moderately carbonated; almost creamy. Starts with banana, bread, clove, stone fruit. Lots of flavors here. The finish is dry, and not so much bitter as banana and spice. It is really quite excellent.

Poured a murky amber color with a large off-white head. Yeasty aroma and flavor with strong notes of banana and clove. Lively mouthfeel. This one is tasty and stood out among the others in the wheat line up.

Bottle (500ml). Hazy, slightly amber gold pour with a large fizzy-fluffy white head. Smells more like a hefe - banana, light apple, sweet malt, yeast and very light floral hops. The taste follows right on, lighter than I expected, a little more grain, lightly toasted, fruity in the finish. Light body, nice soft carbonation, very quick finish, no aftertaste. Refreshing.

Cloudy yellow wheat beer. Sour wheat and corn and banana and honey-like malt/yeast combo, and brown sugar grains.. Sharp coriander and cloves, better with some juice or slice of citrus. Thin creamy mouthfeel. Lightly acidic. Mild carbonation. Malt and banana aftertaste.

Sweet raisins, fruity, scent of plum. More distensible than other weisses which I also liked. This one is one of the best of that style so far I had.
