Commercial Description:
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

Toronto Festival of Beer - the cloves stuck out to me, they usually do, because I don't like them a whole lot. Ok dark wheat beer.

Light brown color, large head. Aroma is malty with a slight banana nose. Light bodied dunkel. Mild taste, sweet malts, definite banana and clove flavor, slight hop bite. Fruity taste, apples and raisins. Light and refreshing. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is smooth and clean. Aftertaste is malty and slightly sweet.

This brew poured a medium sized head of finely sized white bubbles and a transparent brown body. It had a mild hop aroma if any aroma at all. Its malty fruity flavor finishes slightly fizzy. We paid $7.49 for this brew which was not worth the price IMHO.

Orange with a metallic hue and massive head that initially cascades like a waterfall but soon settles into a strong and still top. This is smooth and sweet with primarily banana tones. Nice.

Tap @ Aying. Pours hazy amber with a creamy white head and lacings. Banana, caramel, bread and fruitcake. A bit sweet but overall well balanced. Smooth and full bodied. Nice

(Re-rate Oct 2, 2004) Very muddy, dark orange color, large, big-bubbled head that diminishes quickly. Quite pleasant and strong, yeasty and malty banana aroma with some slightly roasted rye bread. The flavor is more sour-acidic than sweet, quite fruity, very yeasty and somewhat warming. Slightly sour and tingly apple juice aftertaste. Medium to full-bodied, but still slightly thin palate with slightly fizzy-foamy carbonation. A nice, balanced, dryish dunkelweizen, that suits the winter season better than summer.

Banana, clove and a hint of raisins. Cloudy golden-red, head could be better. Roasted bananas on the tounge. Medium body. Refreshing
