Commercial Description:
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

Poured an oranger amber color with a foamy, fluffy white head. Aroma of caramel, wheat and cloves. Fairly complex taste including apples, bananas, clove and yeast. Rather weak mouthfeel.

Dark amber color with semi-large head that disappears immediately. Aroma is of heavy malt and wheat. Oddly enough, the taste does not confirm that. Slight malt flavor to match a healthy dose of wheat. Some fruit, maybe banana, as well. Fairly thin. Quite tasty!

Pours very cloudy murky deep copper/light amber. Nice frothy off white head. Lighter in color than most dunkelweizens. Aroma is light banana, hints of green apple and clove, along with nice bready hints form the yeast and malt. Flavor is slightly nutty, with hints of roast, but is moslty wheat followed by some fruity esters. Overall, this is very subdued and subtle, but very well done. Smooth and creamy palate, whith jsut a slight graininess.

500ml bottle.
Turbid orange, large thick fairly persistent head, and of course the money shot running down the side of the glass. Rich banana and other esters in the aroma. Big punchy fruity and wheaty taste, with none of the effete spices that sometimes accompany lesser wheat beers. However, despite it’s really solid body, it’s unbelievably refreshing and drinkable. Sod the 5.8% - this has been proven to be a session beer, and a damn good one at that. Few, if any, bottled weizens come close to this, a classic.

(500ml bottle) Poura a medium, frothy almond head and a orange-copper, sediment filled body. Cloudy and high carbonation. Nose of yeast, bananas, slight spice and malt. Thin texture - but not lacking complexity - slightly fizzy. Banana flavour. Light and easy drinking for summer.
