It has an attractive aroma of banana, sweet malts and spice. The aroma leads you to a full body of caramel malts rapped around fruity yeast and light spices that finishes slowly. This is a very flavorful dunkelweizen and one of my favorite summertime treats. wheatbeerboy (98), Addison, Illinois, USA

I’m not a big dunkel weisse fan, but I found this dunkel to be the best tasting dunkel by far. Cletus (5048), Connecticut, USA

| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Aug 11, 2008 Exciting to finally review something by Ayinger after reading so much about the brewery.... pours a beautiful bright orange-to-brown blend from bottom to top, an almost shadowy hefe... head is thick, pillowy inches that hold nicely in a Schneider Edel-Weisse glass... yeasts are punchy and arresting; something like citrus fruit plays on the nostril with a touch of malt.... smooth, almost laidback presence, with minimal effervescence and the slightest bit of a flourish at the finish--extremely refreshing...surprisingly straightforward in taste: confiedent wheat couples with a fruity acidity and an underlying malt fortification--a flavor that is both unique and undemanding...begins without fanfare, and I wondered what the awe was about...by midglass, I realized how complete a beer this is, conforming body to mouth, taste to thirst and complexity to the style. A perfect August offering. I could taste a hint of bananas, citrus, and a whiff of cloves. Beer was so good I bought 8 cases to take camping. People flocked to me over those macro-brews that just don’t cut it. zerocool (1), USA does not count | 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Sep 29, 2005 This beer when poured is a nice brown color. It tops with an offwhite head. Initially is a little yeasty, but is then followed by spices. this is one of the best overall dunkelweissens I have had.
