Commercial Description:
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

Pours a hazy golden brown witha dense ivory head that dissipates quickly. No lace but lots of yeast particles floating around. Smells of spicy wheat malt. Yeasty, fruity aromas. Banana, pepper and clove aromas as well. Taste is very similiar to the smell. Fruity, wheat malt and banana. Cloves, pepper and add to that a light smokiness. Also light caramel. Mouth is a bit thin but has some sticky maltiness and lingers on the tongue. Smooth and silky. Really drinkable. I haven’t had a Dunkel Weisse for years, since Germany but this one would have to rank up there.

Hazy orange. Cranberry in aroma, lovely. Sweet caramel malt in flavor, the berries still around there somewhere. Tastes even a bit like green apple towards the finish. Very refreshing, an excellent brew, very much recommended.

Aroma is strong and "wheaty" with a bit of an alcohol nip and a hint of citrus. Color is a cloudy, light brownish amber, translucent but not clear. Flavor is strongly wheaty, with just a whisper of citrus, no hoppy or bitter taste. It dances on the tongue as it goes down and leaves a pleasant aftertaste. I recommend it to all weizen fans.

Light brown/hazy orange iin color, with white dissapating head. Aroma is full of fruit, main one of which is banana. Smooth and easy to drink with a little carbonation. Complexity of taste is furthered by the association of yeast, malts, and wheat. Very solid beer all around, actually was surprised by how good this one turned out.

500 Ml Bottle-Trade w/after4ever-pours a cloudy golden color w/a slight white head. Sweet, banana aroma. Sweet flavor of wheat, banana, green apple, orange peel, bread dough, colander, vanilla, & pepper. Had a lot of carbonation to it. Very easy to drink, very enjoyable. Long yeasty finish, a real winner. Thanks Tom!

Huge nice off white head. Excellent retention. Had to wait a while for the head to die down enough for me to swirl & pour the last inch of the beer. Very cloudy. Orange/brown. Aroma: banana & some strawberry. Taste: More of the same, strawberry is stronger though. Am I the only one seeing strawberry here? Tastes very good, finish is a bit lackluster with an odd bitterness that doesn’t fit as well with the rest of the beer. Mouthfeel is perfect for this kind of beer. Carbonation feels light, as I usually like it. Reminds me a lot of a less intense Aventinus Doppelbock, but tastier since I prefer strawberry-banana smoothies, er I mean beers, to straight banana ones.

Nice label, cloudy in the glass. Good tart aroma. Robust, fresh, nutty taste - I love this flavor which is unique to hefeweizen - a mixture of wheat and a certain type of yeast, perhaps? Notes of citrus and clove. This puts me in the mood for anything between midsummer celebrating to holiday season gatherings, or just sitting by myself at the end of the day, with a little of this liquid reward in my favorite beer glass.

Tried with lemon. Hazy orange pour. Aroma is typical of wheat. Taste without lemon was a mix of wheat grains with a soft bland finish. The addition of lemon provided the citrus kick that was missing and made for an excellent wheat.
