Commercial Description:
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

Hazy ot quite copper. Suspended yeast particles throughout with nice head. Nose of bananas, spices and maybe apple. Soft, lively and almost creamy in the mouth. Flavors of cloves, spice, apples, and yeast. Maybe a tad too sweet? Pretty good and quite quaffable.

Extremely smooth on the palate. Unparalled color and clarity for a weiss. Beautiful buequet with a hint of cloves and spicey fruit. Very good head with a strong carbonation. Excellent weiss.

Dark amber color with semi-large head that disappears immediately. Aroma is of heavy malt and wheat. Oddly enough, the taste does not confirm that. Slight malt flavor to match a healthy dose of wheat. Some fruit, maybe banana, as well. Fairly thin. Quite tasty!

Pours a cloudy orange-brown colour with a thick frothy head. Aromas of yeast, wheat, bananas and malt. Light medium in body. Flavours of lightly roastede malt, wheat, wheat, and a little bit of a spicey taste. Not bad.

Bottle, murky brown orange, nice white head and lace. Big banana yeast, wheat aroma of course, soft and strong together. Nice full body (for a wheat), well balanced and refreshing, not too much of a dunkel but better than the regular ayinger hefeweiss; lively yet soft carbonation.

Bottle: Brownish golden, not as cloudy as the Brau, mediocre pillowy off-white head, quickly settles, decent lacing, light carbonation.   Bready, wheaty, cloves, soft banana, but no citrus unlike its cousin.   Remains bready on the tongue, wheaty, but also has a smokey/charred wood quality to it.   Very clean, fairly big bodied with a well rounded mouthfeel.   The breadiness and clove aspect linger well beyond the finish.   Tasty, but not as tasty as the Brau!

Bottle. I brought this one to the 2007 beer exchange and at first taste, figured that it was just OK. Now that I have had the chance to try it away from blasting my palate with impy stouts and 5 IPA’s, I really have enjoyed this beer. Nice 1/2 liter bottle from which I pour lots of yeast and the nose of banana and spice comes wafting up to my welcoming nostrils. Lots of big bubbles in a nice big head. Refreshing and light, although not very "dunkel" as the color was only slightly darker than weizens of my past. Nice beer and I’ll enjoy the rest in my cellar.

Bottle: Lots of wheat, bread dough, banana and vanilla. Light bodied and a bit thin, smoth finish.
