Commercial Description:
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

A great beer. The flavor was unbelievable. It didn't taste like an average beer, it was really good. I would feel bad getting drunk to something as good as this. Absolutely great with lasagna.

Bottle from santa - hazy orange with substantial head - bright, citrus and clove aroma, with equal parts wheat - soft carbonation, and some light fruity esters of apple and pear, reminding me more of a light belgian - the strong wheat flavor reminds you what kind of beer you’re drinking, though - light earthy, yeasty notes - clove and orange jam arrive late - a bit thin in the finish, but otherwise quite nice and refreshing.

Beautiful cloudy orange with a huge foamy off-white head. Spicy nose and fruity taste ... pretty much what I expected from this wheat beer after I saw the color. And it looked just the way it was supposed to. Mouth was a little thin, but then this is pretty low alcohol stuff and packing great taste. // rerated 9 May 2005 at this beer is nolhing to celebrate. Not enough of anything ... mouth, nose, complexity. A pretty straight forward, pretty simple wheat, without much spice or sweetness or any of the things that make a wheat special.

Super cloudy orange/brown color, fizzy off white head, great aroma like tart cider, very carbonated, creamy mouthfeel, banana, dull hop bitters, very refreshing on the first hot day of summer, just like caribou rides.

Hazy dark brown color with a large white head with large bubbles and sticky lacing. The aroma has a wonderfully caramelly sweet malt body with a light hop balance. Notes of fig & pear with the banana/clove german hefe esters. The flavor is creamy with lots of apples and yeast notes. This is a tasty hefe with some solid flavors, just seems a little dumbed down than what was intended though.

Solid dunkelweiss, very good, drier not as fruity. Always a good break from the norm.

Pours orange-brown, with a creamy off-white ring of foam. Sweet banana aroma. Nice banana, and yes, apple in the flavor in addition to tangy flavors. A nice change of pace for the new year.
