Commercial Description:
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

Clear amber color, the head beige, large, frothy, lace in sheets to coat the glass. Nose?, malt, yeast, earthy and aromatic, front? sweet, top?, medium, finish? dry, lightly acidic, touch of hops, moderate to light carbonation, all in all a very drinkable beer.

It grew on me. Pours jst as advertised, like a roasted hefe-weizen. A big white ehad quickly dissipates. Aroma is wheat, alcohol, and apples. Flavor is wheat, soft apple, maybe some banana. Finish is clean, and slightly dry with some hop, spice and even a little bubble gum. Good shite.

Pours an off-amber with a decent head and some yeast floaties, not quite as dunkel as I’d like. Nose is great--bananas and spice cake. Flavor is a bit disappointing though: some of the banana/spiciness comes through, but it’s overridden by a tart sweetness.

Bottled. Banana and sweet dark malts aroma. Cloudy, dark amber color, off-white head, good lace. Sweet, light bitter, banana, weizen, medium body. Good quality and easy drinking.

1st beer I tried from 7/13 trip to BOTW. JB was to also go, but be japped out at the last minute. One 16.9 oz bottle. Pours cloudy amber with a fluffy orangy white head. Minimal lacing. Aroma is big on bananas, a little wheat, some spice. Flavor is fruity with some spice, a little bread. Good beer.

That good old Bavarian banane aroma. Along with clove. Hazy dark amber color with a light beige head that’s multifingered. Medium bodied, and moderately carbonated; almost creamy. Starts with banana, bread, clove, stone fruit. Lots of flavors here. The finish is dry, and not so much bitter as banana and spice. It is really quite excellent.

Good for a dunkel weizen, but nothing special compared to what can be done. Expected fruitiness present, sweet. Not overly carbonated.

Most of my hefe experience comes from Widmer, so here goes. This had a bigger body, but more diminished citrus notes. Taste was slightly acidic. Well done but not amazing. Maybe a good session beer, I liked it.
