Commercial Description:
Our Ayinger Ur-Weisse is an old-fashioned wheat with some fine roasted malt to give it more color and flavor than golden hefe- weisse. It has an immense crown of lovely foam held proudly above a robe of translucent amber. On the palate, malt and yeast predominate, with a delicious balance of fruit and bread-like yeast. The taste is complex, with suggestions of soft fruit, apple, and, in the finish, perhaps, even cloves.

Orange with a metallic hue and massive head that initially cascades like a waterfall but soon settles into a strong and still top. This is smooth and sweet with primarily banana tones. Nice.

Ok first this is my first Dunkle -Weizen..so here goes. Comes in the usual attractive Ayinger brown euro-style..500ml bottle..nice simple label and again the beautiful cap. Well this is certainlly much darker beir than the usual Hefe-Weissen..a sort of dark murky gold..with a nice big white frothy, bubbly head. mm same wonderful aroma of all the good German hefes( something that very few American versions can get)..the spicy esters..banana, clove..backed by that sour wheat aroma wonderful. This beer has a good wheat profile in the taste and the banana flavour comes through strong in the after taste..nice. Very pleasant sensation on the tongue! A most drinkable dunkle..very very nice will try more of this style.

17 oz. bottle into weizen glass, Crescent Moon Ale House, Omaha NE. Hazy but mostly clear brownish yellow orange; sizable fluffy off-white head that is mostly lasting with a thick, sliding lacing on the side of the glass. Lots of visible carbonation cascading up the glass. Ruby tones to the color in the light. Smells of sweat, orange peel, lemon zest, spices, bread and yeast. Same wheaty malt and creamy dark malt flavors as Aventinus with some orange and mango acidity. Somewhat biting carbonation at first, mellows after a while. Musty malt backbone gives great body, which is accented by barely noticable European hops with no bittering influence. Finish is malty and nicely acidic. This almost tastes "warm" and ciderish due to the spicy flavors: nutmeg, cinnamon, corriander, black peppercorn. Sour apple flavors lurk underneath everything as well. Wonderfully complex flavor; perfect crisp yet medium to full bodied mouthfeel. I liked it a lot.

From a 500 ml bottle purchased at "Keller’s IGA" in Cincinnati, Ohio - This one pours a straw-hued brew with a tall white head and the signature hefe aroma of bananas and cloves. Tastewise, it’s a great, true hefeweizen.

Huge delicious head that quickly dissipated. Cloudy copper color. Some yeast. Very sweet and fruity. A good dunkel. Beautiful looking and delicious.

OK, I’ve been waiting for this for a while, cause I had to save up to purchase it. Got it today at 3 Sons, Wexford. Upon opening, the aroma’s clean and not too detectable but does have a hint of yest in the background. In my poor steeler stein, it pours almost like American wheat but more sophisticated. Beautifully delicious creamy taste with no insulting tones what so ever. Finish is just great! Perhaps the perfect beer except for the price.

Very murky brown color with a large off-white fizzy head. Very complex nose, with banana and clove standing out, as well as apples and darker fruit smells. Creamy feel with a medium body. Carbonation is strong and fizzy. Semi-sweet taste of banana and spices with a lightly acidic finish. Complex and very drinkable.

Strong apricot, banana, and subtle clove bouquet. Very dingy gold color, thick off white head. Apricot and banana flavor, with a light lemon grass finish. Delicious, nicely tart, and refreshing. This is an outstanding wheat beer. It isn’t terribly dark for a dunkelweizen, but who cares? The taste rocks!
