bottle. really thick appearance pouring from the bottle. a dark gold colored beer under a large creamy white head and lots of speedy bubbles. a lively appearance to say the least. a wheaty banana aroma with touches of pineapple. flavor has mostly banana or weizen notes. a bit of cinnamon lingers in the finish. thick, full body. i wish it were a little darker.

Pours rustic grey yellow with a head that rises swiftly to the occaison. Tart banana must on the nose. Medium nectar w/ moderate carbonation. Almost oily in texture. A defined tartness precedes a tropical dispoition. Like milky high pulp banana juice with tons of kiwi. The finish lingers forever.

.5 liter bottle. Pours a lighter than expected hazy deep blonde- moderate white head- fades a bit. Aroma is big with fruity banana esters- yet balanced with big fresh restrained clove-phenolics, slight vanilla as well- good fresh doughy wheat malts as well. Good full sweet wheat malt flavor, doughy, cracker, banana, clove, pepper, good fresh malt sweetness and a clean finish- extremely well done. Nice.

Beautiful aroma, mostly clove, with a solid dose of banana esters to balance. Color looks beautiful, hazy golden orange with a massive white head. Flavors really showcase the wheat and yeast charcacter. Full bodied, dense mouthfeel, with a rather dry finish. A prime example of the style; outstanding.

Pour is a cloudy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is a nice clove/banana with a bit of lemon in there. Flavor is creamy with notes of bitterness and wheat malt. A decent beer and easily drinkable.

Bottle. Poured a lightly hazy golden-yellow color with an 1 and 1/2 inch, dense white head that receded to a 1/4 inch layer and left some spotty lacing. Sweet, doughy yeast aroma with hints of wheat, crisp fruit (tangerine, lemon peel, banana), a moderate spiciness (clove), and a light grassy hoppiness. Crisp, lightly sweet entry with hints of sweet dough, wheat, and clove transitions into a moderate fruitiness with hints of crisp citrus paired with sweeter banana that finishes with a lightly dry grassiness and light undertones of doughy yeast. Light, yet lively, carbonation rounds out a crisp, easy drinking mouth feel. Overall, a tasty, enjoyable beer that does seem to share a lot of common traits with it’s hefe brethren, but that certainly doesn’t make it any less enjoyable.

Pours a bright golden brass with a frothy well-lacing white head. Aroma of light sweet wheat and banana esters with some doughy Bavarian yeastiness. Starts with pretty good fullness and a sweet light malty body with some lemon citrus and clove spice before a drier toasty toffee finish. A true to style and enjoyable heller weizenbock.

[Last rating of 2009] Bottle... Poured a vibrant, cloudy, golden/orange with a huge white head. Aroma of cloves, coriandor and wheat malts. Crisp, refreshing, on the dry side with a fruity, hoppy balance to the otherwise sweet, wheaty base. Finished with banana like notes.
