Cask handpull at Wetherspoons, Folkestone. Clear red colour, but artificially red. No head to speak of. Yeasty hop bitter nose with acids in mouth and on end with some citric fruit and zesty hop. Don’t like the colour, but the rest of the bitter is pretty standard of this type.

Cask conditioned @ Giddy Bridge(JDW), Soton. Unappetisingly unnatural red which I put down to food colourings. Slightly thin with grating bitterness and lightly tart finish. Some citrus aroma. Odd almost dusty chemical flaavour muting the other aspects.

A Mes rate: Red. VERY red. Looks for all the world like a kriek but there is no fruit in there. Yeasty nose that if I am honest is not too great but don’t let that put you off. Drinks very much like a mild and there is hardly any carb in there at all. Not sure what to say really, it is very restrained all round. Plenty of hops followed by a creamy and slightly fruity (oh there’s the fruit) finish. Not bad at all. Worth a drink if only for it being such an amazing colour for the style.
