Tangy, boozy nose like unripe pear drizzled in white rum. Quite a sweet beer, with a clean, even bitterness arriving late with a face-warming smack of alcohol. More sticky than lively. Bittersweet aftertaste. Sweet and strong and that’s the gist, there must be 100 tripels in Belgium just like this one. bu11zeye (5470), Frisco, Texas, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 1, 2009 Bottle. Hazy golden yellow. Soft sweet flowery aroma. First taste is the same sort of sweet, goes into more bitter and malty. Not too alcoholic but still has that ’warm’ feeling. Soft bitter aftertaste, hop taste somewhat to the background. Overall not a spectacular, but certainly very pleasant tripel. SHIG (2037), Aviano, Italy

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 13, 2009 (Bottled) Hazy golden with a large, firm and lacy head. Dry aroma of pale malt, with hints of acidity and grassy hops. Nicely dry, yet honey-malty flavor with a mildly acidic, grassy-hoppy finish. Smoother with yeast, with typical tripel fruitiness coming into picture. Hides the ABV completely. Medium body with balanced carbonation. The aroma was not that inviting, but I liked the dry and solid-malty flavor, and reasonable grassy hop bitterness. diabel (1372), Aarschot, Belgium
