I had this about a year ago and enjoyed it - and am enjoying it again today. I haven’t had that many schwarzbiers, but this was as good as any that I have had. Malt and smoke are present, but don’t overkill the base beer, which is a nice flavorful lager. If you’re ever in Rancho Mirage/Palm Springs, stop at Babes for some good BBQ and beer. Now called "Blackfin Lager" with an ABV of 4.8%. Deep clear mahogany. Burnt malt entry, followed by a surprising fruity sweetness (cooked berries). Finish is dry with low bitterness. Very nice. badlizard (2385), Berkeley, California, USA

Tap at the brewpub... black body with a rich creamy roasted caramel aroma with lesser notes of chocolate and coffee. Very smooth and drinkable. After a long hike this hit the spot. timmy300 (199), bloomington, Illinois, USA

Profound chocolatey and roasted coffee cream flavors, with a thick smooth palate that might fool some into thinking that this is an ale.
