750 mL twistcap bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. I heard this sucks but for less than $5 a 750, what the hell, right? Pours a clear pale yellow with a thin fizzy soda-like head. Looks like white wine. Smells like white wine also with some faint pear and apple notes. Taste is concord grape, apple and pear. Thick, syrupy texture. Syrupy taste too now that it’s sinking in a bit. Fairly godawful.

Appearance: Pale, like a white wine... a light chardonnay hue or something. No head on here, (not sure to expect one?) and it sparkles a little but calms quite quickly.

Aroma: Smells more like apple than pear, at least to my nose. Not robust at all, with a slight grape scent also floating around. Maybe even a little bit of a chemical aroma.

Taste: It’s not making me spit it out in dread, but it’s not good. It tastes kind of like a very cheap white tablewine or champagne... or a weird sort of cooler. There’s almost a spoiled fruit - or maybe it’s just BAD fruit - flavour. Actually, that’s on the nose, too, a bit.

Mouthfeel / notes: It’s rather dry, which would be nice if it were any good. Unfortunately, it’s not, and the dryness isn’t even that much of a positive point, honestly. The sparkling quality of it falls way short, and leaves a little bit of a smacking tackiness after the semi-dry finish. I sometimes like to start with something that is a little lower quality so that I feel really pleasantly surprised (or even blown away) by the good stuff, but when it’s like this, it makes me feel kind of afraid to try any others. Not something I could recommend.

Babycham is a pale pear color, highly sparkling with no head. It has a funky smell with notes of pear skin and wood. It is light bodied, sparkling and dry on the tongue. The finish is slightly scratchy. It tastes funky, slightly sweet and a little sour. It’s kind of artificial tasting. So this is what perry is like?

Sampled via 750 ml bottle at Dark Lord Day ’09 and available at table 3. Pours a clear sparkling golden yellow cider with no head or ring. Aroma of light tart pears, some apple character, and a touch Asti Spumante. Taste is spritzy, light bodied, some semi-sweet pear and apple flavors with a touch of citrus zest. Finish is semi-dry, crisp pear cider character with a near clean aftertaste after the finish.

aroma of bad pinor noir grapes and mad dog wine. some alcohol but no real pears to speak of. flavor is not nearly as bad. sweetness is not cloying and well balanced with dry, puckering slight bitterness. still not much of pears present, some other sweet/sour fruits such as apple are more prevelant. appearance is ginger ale. palate is quite dry. not as bad as the nose suggests, but still cant figure out what situation calls for a bottle of this, beucase its clearly not for pure enjoyment or even intoxication at this low ABV. waste of time.

Tallahassee, Fl. - New Leaf Market - 750 ml twist off green bottle - had to do a double-take to make sure it was alcoholic. Nose of sour apples with a hint of pear juice. Very light golden pour with a wispy white head that dissipates almost instantly. Flavor is industrial pear juice and not very natural tasting. Hints of sour cherries adds a bit of variety. Mouthfeel is bubbly and sparkling as the label suggests. It’s almost as if I am drinking champagne. Refreshing to say the least but not over brimming with flavor

Bottle, bought @ Willems, Grobbendonk.
Pours very pale golden. The limited head that I was ale to obtain fizzes away instantly. Aroma is actually quite champagne-like, some green grapes and a little cardboard and general sweetness. High carbonation, watery palate. Flavour is almost non-existent. Light papery dryness, some sweetness - pear and grapes. Not overly terrible, but the bottle is still exceptionally cool (tiny 0.20 litre one)
