rauchbier (2854), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England Jan 6, 2008 Bottle, from Sainsburys. Deep cherry red, moderate lasting purple pink head and moderate condition. Initial forced sweet cherry essence in the nose, some skin notes and a vague nuttiness developing with time. Oversweet in the mouth with a hint of saccharine bitterness that quickly dries leaving a thin gentle tanginess. Brief cherry sweet finish with some trace of bitter skins then a lingering nostalgia for the beer this replaced.
M0RHI (985), Luxembourg, Luxembourg Jun 8, 2008 Bottle at Aikmans, St Andrews. Deep red ale with a pink thin head Nose is sweet and flat with lots of glace cherries. Mouth actually has some punch to it - there’s the sweet glace cherries to start with, then some disjointed sourness, then the two seem to come together. There’s some dishwater and fizzy sweet and maybe a touch of pink lemonade. It’s alright, but it’s not the best. renffisch (366), london, Greater London, England May 29, 2008 Mes is gonna bitch again :-) but i am a sucker for fake, sugary, aspartame tasting beligum ales. i agree on the apple and soap nose but hey who doesn’t like sour fizzy haribo cherries.... bad taste? definitely, but i like it. gary07734 (84), Tyne & Wear, England May 19, 2008 On tap at The Wellington, Hull.
Pours a bright red, not as dark as other kriekds. Obvious smell of cherries, taste is very much like chery drops (sweets). More sweet than many krieks which i prefer, but may be cloying to others.
Nice for a small drink in the evening. thomat (533), Göteborg, Sweden May 14, 2008 Deep red color with a tiny pink head. Lots of cherry and som sour tones. Fruit and some sweetness. Medium body with a sour and sweet finish. detroitsteel (209), Greater London, England May 12, 2008 Deep ruby red body, small pink head. When you drink it there are bags of cherries, a sherbert sweetness, combined with the seasoned oak dryness of a sour ale. I got two hits of fruit: a jammy, sweet flavour and a more tart taste that cuts through. I really liked it; its better than the raspberry version.
