Commercial Description:
A typical Flemish beer with a pleasant wine-like taste and a rich past. This dark brown beer, which is matured in oak casks, has a slightly acid aftertaste.

bottle. Pours a translucent ruby-chestnut color, capped with a thin off-white head. Aroma of wood, caramel, and sour cherry. Flavor is fairly mild, with tart cherry, wood, and mild acetic acid the primary flavors. Thin bodied. Brief, mildly tart finish. this was pretty underwhelming.

Pours with a nice ruby color, but the aroma wasn’t anything to right home about. Decent head that fades fast. The taste is very Lambic-ey, moderately sour. I’m not terribly impressed with it, to be honest. It was fine to try it but I’m not going to buy it again.

I’m surprized I haven’t rated this yet. I’ve seen it at several fests, including the Stone Sour Fests. Anywho. I bought this 375mL bottle at Texas Liquor in Carlsbad. Pours amber red. Leans dry. Tastes oxidized. Big bubble head fades fast. Thin. Not my favorite.

Pours dark brown with deep red hues. Notes of oak, leather, brett, toffee, and raisins. Light to medium bodied, dry with soft carbonation. Low acidity.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a large, frothy white head. Lacing is very good. Aromas of port, wine, raspberry, and raisin. Lively beer with a very full beginning followed by a crisp palate. Flavor is primarily raspberry with hints of port and blackberry. Very good sour ale and could almost be a Lambic.

12.7 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear ruby color with a large creamy head. Thins fairly quickly to a half finger layer of head. Decent lacing. Aroma of dry earthy funkiness with a tannic red wine vibe. Taste is very smooth. Dry red wine funkiness with a sweet sugary note. Medium bodied.

Bottle. Deep ruby with a creamy yellow-tan collar. Butter, cherry, iron and slight Brie aroma begging that first sip with a gentle balance of dankness and acidity. Dampness, blood, cherries, mild balsamic touches and biscuit fading into a drying chemical bitterness aftertaste (Acesulfame K). Sour ale for beginners.

Pours deep mahogany into a snifter. Tan head quickly recedes to nothing. Sour cherry and oak aromas. Tart and dry upfront with cherry turning to a lasting lactic finish.
