Commercial Description:

A.K.A. Pecker Head Red for the tap version
This Red Ale has lots of English 2 row malt and plenty of carmel (crystal) malt. It starts out very malty and carmely, almost smooth like, and finishes with a bit of hop flavor. Late kettle additions of warrior hops see to that. Enjoy a bit of this very drinkable smooth big beer.
This version of the beer was discontinued in 2004 as a Marzen and a Imperial Pale Ale took over.

22 oz bottle. Cloudy copper color with a small head. Aromas of sweet malt and candi sugars. Taste is medium bodied with some caramel and toffee. Balanced nicely but a bit on the light side. Easy drinking.

Bottle. Deep copper, minimal head. Sweet overall with some hop balance. Fairly alcoholic. As it says, a fair autumn warmer...maybe too alcoholic.

So this is the last of the Back Road supply that BigBadBear63 delivered cross-country, Cheers and Thanks again Boss!
Pours a deep muddy amber body with a very minimal head. Aroma and flavor are rich with malt, fruits & vegetables, plums, prunes, spiced Autumn apple cider, possibly even some butter nut squash. The palate is medium with a dry tart finish; I find many earthy notes such as that of cranberry sauce, yeah that’s right cranberry sauce is earthy!

Cloudy with thick head. Alcohol nose and taste--which I like in the creamier tripple. Hoppy finish with aftertaste of toast. Maybe it should have warmed a bit.

I found this to be quite muddy and unrefined. Cloudy brown body with an off-white ring of foam clinging to the glass. Earthy aroma, with some alcohol in evidence. Flavor was hard to grasp- musty, murky bread, fairly dry, and with a bitter aftertaste. Medium-bodied. I had a hard time picking out individual flavors. My gestalt may detect less than the separate parts themselves!

First time brewed in three years. The nice copper hue as almost no head except ring around top which did produce some lace. Fruity, wheaty, grainy, and malty aroma. The taste starts malty sweet but a surprising hop grapefruit element shows to add a bitter and acadic balance to the brew. Crisp feel to the finish. The tastes never seemed to meld completely but aging may do this beer some good.

Pretty much as described. Light mouthfeel, bubbly carbonation, bright red in color. Some fruity pale malt hints, but mostly a faint caramel flavor. Dry grassy finish. Decent.
