| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 5, 2006 12 oz bottle, via BBB63. Pours a black colored body under a large fluffy light brown head almost 4 fingers in height. Aroma is loaded with caramel and roasted malt. Some licorice, chocolate, alcohol, and dry yeast. Flavor up front is balanced between caramel and burnt malt with a finish that features alcohol and char. Very hot with the alcohol in fact. Mouthfeel is oily in texture with moderate fizzy carbonation. Quite a bit of burnt astringency on the finish. Overall, this was pretty decent, but not amazing. Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA
