Commercial Description:
Our Belgian-Style wit (white) has pilsen malt as well as malted and unmalted wheat to produce that classic hazy canary color and soft palate. Coriander (seed of cilantro) and orange peel are used in the brewing process to develope a delicious taste best described as citrusy/celery like. This beer drinks easy and finishes with a refreshing tartness. It is brewed from June to September.

Bottle acquired in trade with BBB63 (thanks!). Poured a darker and cloudy yellow color with a small sized white head. Aromas of citrus, coriander and yeast. Decent witbier aromas. Tastes of the same although on the lghter side. Thinner and watery body.

Medium murky yellow with a small head. Sweet lemon and orange peel aroma. Thin body, but still has a very refreshing lemon and coriander flavor. Overall the flavors are subtle, but liked. Finish is slightly sour, with a small stale quality as well, but not to a point which becomes unflavorful. Thanks to Mike (bigbadbear63) for the trade.

Nice looking pour, a hazy pale straw body with a tall fizzy white head. It’s got an aroma of tart wheat, oranges, and bitter lemon grass. According to the commercial description, it has a "delicious taste described as citrus/celery like." Thankfully, I perceived no unwanted (from a Wit’s style viewpoint) vegetables in the flavor. Wheat, a tart citric taste (orange with a squirt of lemon), and some coriander was what I encountered. Actually, not too bad.

Draft sample at IBGF 06. Orange copper color with a minimal white head that diminished quickly. Moderate banana citrus aroma. Light body. Medium sweet flavor with a sweet tart finish of short duration.

Golden hue with no head or lacing. Coriander, orange zing, peppery, piney, and grainy aroma. Nicely balanced with spicy and citrusy elements. Clean finish with a lively mouthfeel. Medium to thin bodied, quire refreshing. A well made wit, among the best from Back Road, recommended. The 2004 batch is the best they have done so far, keep up the good work Chuck!

This bottled brew poured a small sized head of fine to medium sized white colored mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a fair lacing. The body was softly carbonated transparent and yellow orange colored. The aroma was malty and mildly skunked. The mouth feel was smooth malty and mildly tingly. The flavor contained notes of malt mild hops slight acidness and some astringency.

2006 bottle from BBB63, drunk on 8/20/06.
Low-to-moderate haziness in this more traditionally colored copper colored beer with deep peachy-gold tints. White head shows very poor retention, and little/no lacing. Large bubbles rise listlessly in the liquid....
Wheat and spices collide in the nose, with moderate acidity being drawn from the yeast and perhaps the coriander. Strong, nutty wheat notes downplay the moderate phenolic character (white and black pepper, some clove-like notes), while the soft pils-malt seems ample, though certainly not assertive. I do get a good deal of fruitiness, mainly citric (lemons and oranges) with some softer fruits produced from the yeast. Aroma is medium strength, no alcohol apparent.
Wet, somewhat slick texture immediately highlights the low carbonation. And what is there, is rather fizzy and large/loose-bubbled. Some wateriness on the end as well, but other than carbonation issues, a very simple, but well-done wit. Honey/dough from the pils malt, with light coriander bitterness, some touches of spicy phenols and an almost biscuity note through the middle. High attenuation, varied fruitiness; citric and mellower fruits. Moderate acidity helps keep interest. No alcohol/flaws, but a tighter carbonation would provide much more expressiveness for the flavors.

Bottle. Poured a small sized white head and fine-small sized bubbles that quickly dissipated. Malty and spicy aroma and a malty and sour flavor. Smooth and somewhat watery and thin mouthfeel. Light bodied beer with very sparse lacing.
