Commercial Description:
A notorious drink that is as dark as its namesake's history! Named after the infamous LaPorte serial killer Belle Gunness of 1908. Our Irish style dry stout is amazingly smooth to drink. You will taste chocolatey, coffee, and roasty flavors in every sip.

Pours jet black with medium creamy tan head. Head dissipates fairly quickly. Aroma is mildly sweet, chocolate, coffee. Taste is mild -- light sweet, coffee, light chocolate. Light/medium watery body. To paraphrase Subaru, "Inoffensive, and built to stay that way."

Pours a mostly opaque black with a thin ring of tan head. Aroma of some dark chocolate, mild soy sauce and light roasted malt. Body starts with decent viscosity, semi-sweet caramel malt and dark earthy flavors with some lingering dark chocolate toward a drier finish. A pretty good dry stout.

Originally rated this a 2.6, but the other bottles I had weren't so bad. It was still hard to detect much from this one. The aroma has a mild vegetable quality, and the flavor was a thin and mild chocolate and coffee. A regular stout.

Good looking beer, a nearly black dark brown with a multi-fingered tan head that laced in sheets. It has a quiet aroma of cold coffee, milk chocolate, and lightly roasted malts. Kind of a watery mouthfeel to it. The flavor is a bit sweeter than the nose would bring you to expect, but no new elements are added. Actually for a Dry Stout, a dull style in my opinion, this isn’t too bad.

Draft sample at IBGF 06. Black color with a moderate brown frothy head that diminished slowly with fair lacing. Moderate roasted malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture. Medium roasted flavor with a medium dry finish of moderate duration.

Dark brown with quickly disappearing tan head, no lacing, thin to medium bodied. Aroma hints of coffee, dark chocolate, fruity hops. Dry, thin, somewhat fizzy mouthfeel. Mildly sweet tasting with some bitter hops presence for balance, smooth and easy to drink, long coffee dry aftertaste. This brew does indeed need a bit more body to be deemed worthy of top honors, an everyday drinking (a session?)stout, slighty recommended.
