Commercial Description:
A notorious drink that is as dark as its namesake's history! Named after the infamous LaPorte serial killer Belle Gunness of 1908. Our Irish style dry stout is amazingly smooth to drink. You will taste chocolatey, coffee, and roasty flavors in every sip.

One of the best that Backroads has to offer.....A bit flatter than Guinness...One of the top sellers at our local taverns in NW Indiana......Recommended if you like dark beers.......

Bottle. Chocolate, coffee and burnt grain aroma. Midnight black color with nice big head. Smokey malt flavor - body on the light side. Very nice tasting beer - just wish the flavor came out stronger.

This pours out of the bottle very dark, with a thin brown head and an aroma that hints of coffee and anise. There are nice, subtle roast coffee and anise flavors and a very bitter coffee bean finish. A very dry stout with a hint of oily in the palate. Maybe a little thin (and maybe I’ve been drinking too many imperial stouts) but very drinkable. Nothing to really detract from this nice stout.

Moderate malty aroma, with hints of chocolate, coffee and molasses. Moderate floral hop aroma and a light yeasty aroma. Light off-white head with low head retention and lacing. Clear, brown color. Bitter dry initial flavor with dark chocolate malt middle that drys to a lingering hoppy finish. Medium body, light carbonation with a smooth mouthfeel with aslight grain astringency. This is a great improvement on the other samples tasted from this brewery.

Dark brown color, small tan head that faded quickly.malty sweet aroma with a hint of chocolate and hops.Nice mild malt flavor with a bit of fruit maybe some bananna and possibly a little vanilla, with a decent hop taste that is a bit bitter at the end but not much so.This is a nice brew, not real high on flavor but still decent enough to be worth having a few more around. Thanks go to BBB63 for sending this brew.

Pours a mostly opaque black with a thin ring of tan head. Aroma of some dark chocolate, mild soy sauce and light roasted malt. Body starts with decent viscosity, semi-sweet caramel malt and dark earthy flavors with some lingering dark chocolate toward a drier finish. A pretty good dry stout.

A run of the mill stout. Nothing too exciting, but drinkable and refreshing. More in tune with small brewpub versions. Guinness knock-off right down to the name!
