Beautiful head which dissipates fairly quickly. Flavor is not all that. It begins with a bold roasty, chocolate flavor, and finishes weakly. Bitterness is not very prevalent except weakly in the aftertaste. Alcohol flavor is not strong and barely noticeable. Good beer.

Thick oily black with a thin dark tan head. Lightly sweet and roasted aroma with hints of strawberries. Nice smooth silky body had notes of chocolate, light spice and dark fruits. Gets much better as it warms. Finishes dry and roasty. Hides its alcohol very well. A pleasant imperial stout. Thanks bbb63!

Nice opaque black color with a beige head. Interesting aroma, full of earthy scents like mushroom and smoked wood with some sweet malt and coffee. Earthy flavors, with a pretty hoppy finish. This is an interesting beer. I'm not sure whether I would drink this on a regular basis or not, but I appreciate its uniqueness!

Great black color with a small tan head. The aroma was completely unique to me...mushrooms/fungus, pine, soil, sweet coffee. The flavor was a perfect representation of a forest smell...pine, lots of wood (wet and smoked), fungus, rich soil, rain. It finishes with a nice hops bite...not too strong though. Creamy mouthfeel, wet finish. One of the most interesting stouts I've come across!

Very dark look with a chocolate head. Mostly a deadly assault on the very front with huge chocolate, malt, roasted flavors. Some hops in the end but nothing really overpowering. Well done. Thanks to BBB63 for the sample.

At the brewery on tap. The appearance was a small sized tan head that contained fine-large sized bubbles that mostly diminished. The body was uncarbonated, opaque and the hue was black. The nose malty, strong coffee and some hops. The flavor was that of coffee with a smooth mouthfeel and medium-full bodied. There was good lacing with this beer. Thank you to the fine folks at this brewery for their fine hospitality that they showed to our small group.

It's great to have another 'local' Imperial Stout. This is one of the best Back Road products and I hope they decide to bottle it and keep it going. It is much smaller a stout than, say, FFF or Bells, but is an almost flat, roasty, sticky, and very enjoyably hoppy imperial. Alcohol is just strong enough to provide dryness among the bitter hops at the finish. Malts are roasty, chewy, and chocolatey throughout. Great Xmas treat for Santa. Thanks to BBB63 for yet another good beer. (BBB63 is going to TURN INTO A STOUT by the end of 11/03!!!!!!)
