This rating from the growler but I had two of these earlier at the brewpub, I served this in my Wiehenstephen weizen glass which makes sense!
Pours mostly clean since the yeast is at the bottom of the bright tank, topped by a huge fluffy white head and excellent lace. Looks all the part of a classic hefeweizen.
Onward towards to nose where I found a fresh banana and clove ester, mild grassy notes and a classic bubblegum overtone. Smells the part of a classic hefeweizen.
The taste is mildly fruity and malty and quite refreshing minus a hit of soapy aftertaste. Mild spice and flowery qualities also found within. What I like about this is you can notice the wheat bill without a struggle unlike many American made versions. The mouth feel is softer than the German original is is dryer than many hefes as well.
A fine effort from Back Road, Kudos! Worth a try for anyone looking for a solid summer brew.
