Bottles courtesy of BBB. Dirty golden, huge off-white head, great lacing. Big floral and spice character up front. Either chamomile or paradise in the background, I swear, even though the description reads no. Flavor much the same, floral and fruit esters up front, dusty pils malt/spent grain through the middle, faint spice and skunk dry out the finish. Old euro hops is what I wrote in notes, but apparently it’s Mt. Hood. Could be a tad drier, but still very well done.

Initial release on tap at brewery and served in a chalice: Just transferred so it is still very cloudy and is topped by a small ring of foam. The nose is very estery with heavy banana and pear vapours along with noticeable hop spice (a little like coriander), grassy tones and a classic Belgian yeast character.

The taste profile is wonderfully complex and sublime with a fruity and yeast driven note and a minor noble hop bite. Minor acidity is found throughout before leading towards a wheaty background and hop-spiced finish. This beer is dangerously drinkable as the alcohol is completely hidden and the mouth feel is medium-bodied, snappy and refreshing.

Chuck outdid himself for this is quite stylistic and a tribute to the Classic of the genre. I dig it and to steal a line from someone else at the brewery, it is almost too good to share with friends. (I hope Ernest digs this too).

On tap at the brewery. 10th Anniversary Brew
Bright yellow with some white head. Nice pear or apple aromas, along with some perfume or floral character. Light perfume flavor with a peppery bitterness. Very mouth filling with lots of carbonation.
Well done, Chuck. Here’s to 10 more!

Growler via BBB63. The beer pours to a hazy peach caramel colored body with a thin white head. The aroma is heavy with lots of Turkish apricots, light spicy fruity hops, and pale malts. The flavor is Turkish apricots, sweet pale malts, spicy hops, nice fruity golden raisins. Very balanced. The palate is sweet and spicy and moderately bodied. Very creamy and velvety.

Growler shared by BBB63. Hazy orange-yellow pour with a white head. Aroma of light pale malt, barnyard elements, sea-salt and yeast. Flavors of spices, yeast, pale malt, light fruits and lemon zest. Medium body dry/creamy with a dry finish.

12oz from BBB63, thank you Mike. Shared with my gf Cyn. Pours orange with a 2 finger tan head. Nose is sweet and spiced. Taste is spicy with touches of citrus and a bit of hoppy bitterness. The citrus bitter but also lemony. Can’t quite place the spices, but this is certainly a tasty saison.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a tulip. This saison poured a hazy golden/amber color with a mimimal white head that dissappeared almost immediately. The aroma was made up of apricot, strong yeast, some cinnamon, and also a bit of pepper. The flavor was a bit sweet and sour, with a nice peppery finish. I can’t believe there weren’t any spices used. You can really taste some clove, cinnamon, and pepper. The mouthfeel is medium to full-bodied, with a good hit of carbonation. Very crisp and refreshing. I didn’t quite know what to think of this beer the first time I tried it at the 10th anniversary, but now it has really started to grow on me. Can’t wait to see what lies ahead for Back Road Brewery.

Growler from BBB63- Pours a bright slightly hazy golden color, small to no head. Aroma is traditional, very balanced and a great fresh brew. Flavor is refreshing and tasty, a strong grassy hop flavor dominates. This is tasty and i could drink alot of it. Possibly my favorite from BR
