Back Road Midwest IPA (New Recipe/2006)

12oz bottle acquired in trade with shawnm213 (thanks!). Poured a medium and slightly hazy amber color with a larger sized off white head. Some lacing left on the glass. Aromas of floral hops, earthiness, and pine. Tastes of citrus, pine, some toastiness, and a trace of caramel.

Amber pour. Thin off white head. Resinous citrus hops and a touch of caramel. Finish is dry. Solid beer

Bottle courtesy of shawnm213. Pours copper with some haze and a thin white head. Smells of resin, citrus, resiny, spicy, earthy. Tastes of pepper, earth, some astringent hints, some spice on the finish.

Sampled at the brewery. Pours a clear yellow orange with a thin head. Citrus pine and pale malts in the nose and flavor. Malts are pretty light and seems to be a similar bill to their house beer and APA. Moderate bitterness. Nothing too special but decent beer, and probably their best one on.

Pours a nice light almost reddish orange amber with disappearing white head. The aroma is very nice - lots of resiny, citrusy, earthy hops with a bit of sweet malt. The flavor is lightly sweet, and dominated by bitter, earthy, citrusy hops with a bitter hop aftertaste. The mouthfeel is moderate. This is a very fine IPA, nice and strong on the hops in aroma and flavor. I could drink this often.

Aroma is pleasant. Appearance is slightly dark for a IPA. Flavor is extremely bitter, probably the chinook.

Really, As an IPA it didn’t impress me a whole lot. It had a very nice golden colour with a soft floral head. but the the taste was mildly hoppy with a touch of citrus notes. A nice beer, but something I would like to try again on draught.
