Thanks to hopdog for this... Appears a hazy caramel color with a mild tan head. Scattered lacing is left behind. Smell is of caramel, toffee, mild cherries, and fresh, sugary dough. Taste is of caramel, dough, mild oak, and spices. Mouthfeel...still slightly hot with lots of sugary malt. ABV is evident in this one.

Bottled. Hazy ruby. Fruity crystal malt aroma. Sweet with clean, chewy mouthfeel. Somewhat sticky and very salty, unusually fruity. Medium bitterness. Not entirely succesful.

Hazy reddish-orange with smaller white head that fades quick. Fruity aroma with some light caramel and a little wood. Lots of caramel in the flavor with a nice light fruitiness and a hint of citrus. Moderately hoppy finish. Alcohol sneeks in at the end.

Pretty clear deep copper in color with light head and quickly fading lace. Sweet malts and slight hops on the nose with a hint of carmel. Rich upfront but then a weird metallic taste with a dry hoppy finish then gets a little grainy.

Sampled at Argo and Kathy’s ’05 Holiday Gathering. Dark, clear copper with an off-white head. Aroma is a mix hops and toasted malts. Has a young, green hop flavor with notes of toffee/kilned malts, sherry and a strong alcohol presence. Pretty sweet. Medium bodied with a smooth texture and subtle carbonation. Overall, not bad but it needs work.

Bottle... A&K’s4thAHBT... Hazy golden ale with a small, beige head. The aroma is a blend of dimestore perfumes and colognes... can’t describe it better than that. Malty flavor up front, but equally bitter on the backside. Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Finishes tongue numbingly bitter and boozy.

Bottle: Amber-ruby, slight haze, with a beige head. Aroma is cardboard, vegitable broth, nuts, light alcohol. Taste is cardboard, hops, and caramel. It appears this one has somehow oxidized in the bottle, or maybe that’s just how it tastes looking at others’ ratings.

This is much better that the last time I had a bottle. Pretty hazy and murky dark orange. Decent white head. The citrus hop aroma is much more up front, with a good bit of toffee. Same with the flavor. Hop forward with a good malt backbone. Good and bitter. Palate is rich with some oil. Very nice.

2005 vintage. 2 DEC 2005 11.99 for a sixer. Pours the color of cherry wood with a nifty tan head. The aroma is woody, nutty, kind of dusty. Overloaded with alcohol right now. Some carmel character and pretty bitter. Palate is full and slick. This one really still needs some time.
