badlizard (1568), San Diego, California, USA Jul 20, 2007 What I had was called Barley Legal, which I assume is a different name for the same beer. Orange copper color with creamy white head. Faint caramel aroma. Strong caramel malty taste with a thick syrupy palate. awaisanen (1187), Irvine, California, USA May 16, 2006 On tap in Irvine. Pours a rich, flaming reddish orange color with even consistency, neither transparant or hazy, and with a generous amount of off-white creamy head resting on top. Slightly sweet strawberry incense wafts from the glass, joined by a symphony of white grapes and an orange zest citrus hoppiness. Thick, heavy mouthfeel thats full of crisp carbonation. Slightly sweet, ruby red grapefruit hops instantly flood the tongue, along with a hint of maple syrup. A few notes of dried ginger, raw parsnip, and white pepper follow closely behind. Final smack of white pine needles and honeydew melon. A nice, classic west coast barleywine overall.
