ABUSEDGOAT (1924), California, USA May 12, 2006 tap at brewpub in La Quinta. Usual black body. Aroma was very roasty with notes of coffee, chocolate and some caramel. But vanilla though? Didn’t get any. Not bad by any means, but nothing special either. fordest (1857), Santee/San Diego, California, USA May 1, 2006 Draft at La Qunita Branch. Dark pour with only a little light getting through. Not much head. Aromas were mostly coffee and roastiness. Flavors lost the coffee altogether, but that was ok because the vanilla now came through. Still roasty too. Not much of the dustiness I have come to expect from a porter, but the flavor was too "light" to be compared to a stout. Very good Porter.
