Commercial Description:
This lager revisits Adam's first beer profile ever made, the one that inspired him to become a professional brewer. First brewed as a homebrew for the Southern California Homebrewer's Festival in Temecula, this lagered version of the IPA is a huge departure from its big brother. The only thing that has changed is the name, but at only 4.8% abv and filled with hoppy goodness you can enjoy all that huge hop flavor of a double IPA but with the alcohol content of your favorite session beer. All and all this lager makes for a truly guilt-free pleasure.

On tap at Downtown Johnny Browns. I have always known about this brewery chain, but strangely, today is the first time I have had a beer from them. And, it was damn good. Don’t let the "pale lager" description scare you, this is actually really hopped up and very tasty. Nice mix of grassy, earthy hops and the big citrus hops. It feels like a big beer, but you can have 3 or 4 and still make it home in one piece. Sounds good to me.

On tap at Downtown Johnny Browns. A pale lager? I thought for sure this was a IPA. I thought the IPL was a misprint on the board at DTWN JBs. A very nice hop profile and a smooth malty balance makes this easy to drink. 4.8% makes this a nice session beer. Would love to revisit with some spicy wings and ranch dressing with 3 or 4 pints of this. Nice job!

On tap at Hamiltons. Pours with an amber body topped by a medium thick head with good lacing left on the glass. It’s grassy, piney and slightly grapefruity from the hops with a light underlying sweet amlt note. Light bodied, smooth and a touch dry.

On tap at PP C’Bad. Pours clearish, copper/amber with a thin white head , good lace. Smells deep, sweet malty with some red fruity hop bitter/sweetness. Tastes big and malty mostly but there is a nice hop bitterness in the background through the whole sip. More of the hop flavors kick in on the finish, red fruity. Almost like a red ale but in lager form. Medium body, good carbonation.

Adam sampled Simon L. and me out of the tank @BSB. Nose has an incredibly citrusy sweet hop driven appeal alongside of ripe fruits. Hue was nice, I’m sure it’ll clear a little more in the next few days. Flavor was excellent with punchy hops softly shrowded by grainy malt characteristics. The balance in this is brilliant. The finish is crisp and refreshing, making your tastebuds tingle as well as wanting another pint~
