And, it was damn good. Don’t let the "pale lager" description scare you, this is actually really hopped up and very tasty. Nice mix of grassy, earthy hops and the big citrus hops. It feels like a big beer, but you can have 3 or 4 and still make it home in one piece. Sounds good to me.
thedradle (9), , California, USA does not count Sep 25, 2008 Tastes like it should knock you out, but you can drink it all day...brilliant! padrefan98 (658), (San Diego) Santee, California, USA Aug 31, 2008 On tap at Downtown Johnny Browns. A pale lager? I thought for sure this was a IPA. I thought the IPL was a misprint on the board at DTWN JBs. A very nice hop profile and a smooth malty balance makes this easy to drink. 4.8% makes this a nice session beer. Would love to revisit with some spicy wings and ranch dressing with 3 or 4 pints of this. Nice job! Vac (2274), San Diego, California, USA Jul 21, 2008 On tap at Hamiltons. Pours with an amber body topped by a medium thick head with good lacing left on the glass. It’s grassy, piney and slightly grapefruity from the hops with a light underlying sweet amlt note. Light bodied, smooth and a touch dry. doubleo (966), San Diego, California, USA Jul 12, 2008 On tap at PP C’Bad. Pours clearish, copper/amber with a thin white head , good lace. Smells deep, sweet malty with some red fruity hop bitter/sweetness. Tastes big and malty mostly but there is a nice hop bitterness in the background through the whole sip. More of the hop flavors kick in on the finish, red fruity. Almost like a red ale but in lager form. Medium body, good carbonation.
