| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 11, 2003 A burnt wood color to it with a soapy small head. Kind of a bland funk to the aroma. Has an earth dirt and dark fruit thing going on in the body. I am impartial to the style, so i suppose its aight. Gusler (2655), Tucson, Arizona, USA

The beer has a hazy and blurry brown appearance with a smallish head that is frothy in texture also a light tan color and after decomposition the lace forms a fine sealing sheet to cover the glass. Earthy aroma with sweet malt, crisp and the start malt laden and somewhat sweet, the top is middling in its feel to the palate. Finish has a bit of acidic bite with the hops pleasingly spicy and the aftertaste quite dry, a quaffable brew.

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 9, 2002 I sampled the Magnus Magnus Old Ale at the Strong Ale Festival this past weekend. It poured a nice amber, mildly brown colour with a very minimal head. The aroma was that of pure yeastiness. The taste was fairly complex with heavy bitterness, some serious spiceyness and definite yeastiness coming through leaving one hell of a strong aftertaste. The problem was that these tastes didnt quite work well with one another and made for one cringingly powerful bite.
