Sampled @ Strong Ale Fest San Diego

The beer has a hazy and blurry brown appearance with a smallish head that is frothy in texture also a light tan color and after decomposition the lace forms a fine sealing sheet to cover the glass. Earthy aroma with sweet malt, crisp and the start malt laden and somewhat sweet, the top is middling in its feel to the palate. Finish has a bit of acidic bite with the hops pleasingly spicy and the aftertaste quite dry, a quaffable brew.

Tasted at the 2004 Pizza Port Strong Ale Fest. Dark orange gold color. Small to medium head. Aroma is malty and sweet. A medium bodied Old Ale. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are slightly bitter and grapefruity. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Brown pour with no head. Flavor is full of dark fruit and rich malt. Very full bodied with just a hint of alcohol bite near the finish.

On tap at the 10th Annual San Diego Strong Ale Festival: Pours a deep mahogany ruby with a frothy, pillowy tan head. Sweet, sticky caramel malty toffee aroma has some light fruity notes. Body starts full and sweet with some caramel and brown sugar complexity toward a warming, bittersweet earthy finish. Could use more balance.

I also had it at pizza port in san clemente. Nutty and sweet, tastes a bit like cider and caramel. Full bodied, light carbonation, no head.

Draft at PP Strong Ale Fest ’05. Kinda dark copper pour. Fruity old-ale aroma. Malty flavors, some sweet caramel, fairly fruity still, and maybe a little musty.
