| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 5, 2008 Sample at the Irvine brewpub. The beer is a clear dark reddish-amber color with a thin and creamy beige head that burns away slowly. Stringy lacing. Aroma of caramel and toasted malt. Medium, clean body with flavors of sweet caramel malt, nuts and mild hops. The finish is roasted nuts and malt with a lingering sweetness left over. Slightly above average overall. riversideAK (2739), Shoreline, Washington, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 19, 2007 A dry and crisp citrus hop aroma. Not overly powerful though. Some roasty malt is evident as well. A dark reddish amber with a thin tan head. Flavor is a mild roasty toffee flavor with pleasant mild citrus hops. A little grapefruit peaks through in the flavor. Finishes dry. A suprising thirst quencher and a nice session beer. Gusler (2655), Tucson, Arizona, USA

The beer pulled a reddish-brown with a nice light tan head with the lace a velum like sheet. Nose was mostly malt; sweet and clean, start was sweet with a light to middling top. Finish was mildly acidic, the hops fair to middling in their spiciness, dry and a fairly drinkable beer, albeit a bit light for me, or was that because of all the big hopped beers?

The flavor is juicy grassy hops + citrus hops atop an easy to drink base malt. The aroma is light. Almost smells like watermellons. The palate is medium bodied and velvety.
