Commercial Description:
Adam C's take on the traditional Saison highlights two things. Those beautiful fruity, clove-like flavors of the Belgian Saison yeast and the cool refreshing flavors of Sage. Adam used only the freshest locally grown and picked organic Sage, from farms in the northeast San Diego region. The sage leaves were sun dried for two days before adding them to the brew kettle resulting in a wonderfully flavored Saison.

Growler sampled at RBSG 08, with thanks to DenverLogan. Pours a clear amber with a small, white head. Huge herbal aroma, of malt and hops, with fruity, orange notes. Taste is a bit sweet, spicy and fruity, the sage comes through nicely. Lingering sweetness. Different and very tasty saison.

RBSG 2008. Pours gold with a bubbly white head. Herbal sage nose, spicy, with a soft honey character. Fairly sweet saison, not as dry and spicy as most, but the herbal twist was interesting.

Growler. Light amber beer with an off-white head. Herbal, spice, light malt aroma. Spicy, malty, light playdough flavor with light fruity esters. Medium bodied. Malt, esters, and light spice linger.

Thanks to Logan (I believe) for bringing the growler! Poured clear bright golden with a short dusting of white head. The aroma picked up sweet candied toffee and pale malts with sage rockin’ it hard!.. deep and definitely interesting. The flavor was on the sweet side with toasty pale malts and toffee at the core.. dry and herbal accents all around including the aforementioned sage.. dried out on the back, which really allowed the spices to shine. Spicy and dry overall on the palate with a long-ish finish.. enjoyed the sage twist.

Growler sample from DenverLogan at RBSG; Nose of corriander, light funk, and light grassy hops; clear gold with a small white head; flavor has very light white pepperiness, sweet caramel, and a tiny gingery touch!

~RBSG ’08~

Growler at Grand Tasting. Pours a clear golden color, with a giant mass of cloudy white head, creamy white lacing. Aromas of corn, hay, wheat, some zest. Feels dry hopped. Flavor is a basic saison profile, and doesn’t seem to attempt to verge into complex territory, despite the interesting ingredients. Drinkable, but boring and lacks flavor.

Thanks to DenverLogan for cracking this open at RBSG 08. Pours a clear gold into my Chouffe goblet. Head is white and supple, leaving watery blotches of lace. Aroma is mealy unripe banana with some sage. Flavor is bubblegummy with some sweet fruitiness. Not very complex. A bit sticky on the palate.
