bsierra (162), Vista, California, USA Jul 16, 2008 On tap at Hamilton’s during the 2nd saturday event featuring Adam Carbonell brewmaster at Back Street Brewing of Vista. Pours a deep black with an off white head. The nose has a nice maltiness with ripe fruit and chocolate notes. Flavor has a sweet maltiness along with rich cacao followed by the rye malts poking through and a nice tangy fruit underlying all. Great carbonation although it was really cold when I started drinking it, as it warmed up the rye and orange flavors really began to come out, and was really good. The abv is very well concealed, making this one a silent killer~ Nice Brew A.
Praetorian (42), Los Angeles, California, USA Aug 14, 2008 Dark brown with a small head and ok lacing. The aroma is of coffee and orange peel. The flavor is of coffee, nuts, oak, rye and chocolate. A somewhat dry texture. A good beer, but nothing special. BMan1113VR (762), Los Angeles (and Dallas, TX), California, USA Aug 13, 2008 On tap at Stone. Pours with a murky brown body and a small off-white head that goes quickly. Aroma of coffee, some orange peel. Taste is coffee, some orange peel, chocolate powder, roasted malts. Fizzy mouthfeel and kind of dry. Odd for the ABV. Vac (2231), San Diego, California, USA Jul 16, 2008 On tap at Hamiltons.
