Kevin (1779), Colorado, USA May 14, 2008 stained light wood color that starts wit ha bubbled thick head. but settles into a lasting white ring. strong hop nose that is a bit medicinal. a hop forward taste : lemon , earthy herbal notes, a bit of burnt pine. some vanilla notes are hiding in here too. sweet malt doesn’t quite balance, but that’s o.k. i’m not always looking for balance. this is what i need right now.

Dmalone102 (114), Denver, Colorado, USA Sep 30, 2008 I bought a bomber of this at the brewery. It has a copper color with very little head and some lacing. It has a chill haze which clears up nicely while it warms. It has a fantastic aroma, very citrusly, like lemons and a hint of grapefruit. The malt flavor is crisp and a little subdued. The hop flavor is citrusy and bitter. It balances toward the bitter side. This is a pretty good IPA. fiver29 (365), Strongsville, Ohio, USA Sep 6, 2008 Bottle pours dark amber with a thick off white head. Has a light hop pine smell to it with a bold malt aroma overall. Has a medium mouthfeel with a stinging feel from a lot of carbonation. Taste is mostly malt with some hop pine flavors on the finish. Overall, this is a brew past its prime. It would have been nice to try this when it was fresh. BlackForestCO (629), Fort Collins and Black Forest, Colorado, USA Aug 18, 2008 Tap. Poured a yellow-copper color with a thin white head that left good lacing. Floral hop aroma with a healthy dose of citrus fruits and a light earthiness. Lightly spicy entry with a nice toasted malt character with a hint of caramel leading into an aggressive grapefruit hop hit with some subtle leafy notes. Finishes with some light earthiness and soft citrus flavors. Pretty nice beer. BlackDonald (1039), North Carolina, USA Aug 11, 2008 Light golden amber coloring, with a small white head. Bold citrus hop nose, very fragrant and floral, which I like. Caramel malt backbone, with more of the same in the hops department. Solid IPA. ChrisJ (98), Denver, Colorado, USA May 22, 2008 Draft @ the brewery. Poured in a light amber and produced a nice two fingered off-white head. Aroma was spicy citrusy hops. The flavor was classic IPA very hoppy citrus and floral with some malt balance principally caramel and toast. The finish was bitter and the mouth feel is light. Decent IPA.
