Jul 15, 2009 Cask, Pennyblacks, Birmingham, UK. A very good example of an English session bitter. Asubtle toffee flavour, malt and hops well balanced and a nice lingering, slightly fruity finish.

Jun 7, 2009 Cask @ Smithfield Hotel, Manchester M4. Pours a dark amber color wit a small off-white head. Has a slightly roasted malty caramel aroma with some hints of coffee. Roasted malty caramel flavor wit some hints of coffee. Has a slightly roasted malty caramel finish with some bitterness in the aftertaste.

Clear medium brown amber color with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, light notes of coffee, light yeasty, leather, barnyard notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat to soft, finish feel is light metalic. [20090122]
