Der löwenstarke dunkle Doppelbock. Über 18 % Stammwürze, ca. 7,6 % Alkohol. Nur saisonal verfügbar ab Martini im November (Anstich) bis ins Frühjahr um Josefi.

(bottle) Clear, dark amber colour with a mid-sized, light-beige foamy head with a moderate persistence. Sweet and slightly toasty cara-malty and bready aroma with light notes of caramel and herbal hops. Sweet flavour, medium to full bodied with a soft carbonation. Toasty and strong malty, slightly molassy taste with caramel and light herbal notes in the background. Toast-malty, residual sweet finish with a tinge of hoppy bitterness. Not very exceptional, even a bit dull (28.11.07).

Thanks to joss for the beer! The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Dark, but not bad, not much foam. The beer starts a little bit alcoholic, tastes then somehow artifically malty, becomes drier in the end. Had better doppelbocks already.

Bottle. Claret, fine carbonation, low brown head. Metallic roast and herbal hop aroma. Huge sweet body, not sticky though. Pear and red berry notes, peppery and roasted notes, caramel, a few aromatic hops. Mellow wellagered mouthfeel. Molassis aftertaste.

bottle. Brown colour, tiny head. Full-bodied malty flavour with hints of prunes and raisins. Slightly hoppy. Hints of chocolate, caramel and toffee.

Bottle (many thanks to Quack-Duck !): Amber coloured, small, but lacing off-white head, sweet-malty, caramelly nose with vinous-fruity and nutty traces and not without a tinge of alcohol; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied; sugary, nutty, dark-malty finish, saved by a late hoppy bitterness in the aftertaste. Not superb, but quite well balanced........
