JPDIPSO (4344), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Jul 1, 2008 Many thanks to my friend Curt for carrying this bottle one across the pond for me to sample. Clear copper color with a moderate, slightly dense canvas colored head. A few isles of lace. Very clean scent. Clean in a not yeasty or dirty way. I have to clarify as my first description is that it has an earthy toffee aroma. But it’s clean earth, really. Floral to lemon grass hops scent in the background. Middle ester waft in and out as well. Not an overpowering scent, but a intriguing nose that has me thinking and gains a point for that. Fairly dry in flavors, but some roasted pecans and dark caramel work their way in. HInts of figs in the middle. A return of mild nuttiness in the finish and linger. A bit watery in flavor in the end. If I liked ambers or brown better this would have a chance, but as it is, a fairly boring bitter.
Beth101 (155), West Yorkshire, England Oct 31, 2008 Syrupy metallic flavour. A kind of dull amber colour with a large off white head. Syrupy aroma. Bullit (659), Glasgow, Scotland Oct 21, 2008 Clear amber colour, off-white head. Aroma has faint malts and hops. Flavour of caramel malts and some fruits. Weak bitter. HogcliffeLenny (158), Christchurch, Dorset, England Sep 14, 2008 Bottle 500ml. Part of Badger Sett from Asda, Bournemouth. Pours deep amber with small white head. Hoppy aroma, which doesn’t quite make it through to the taste. Reasonably refreshing and preferable to the Badger England’s Gold, which was also in the Badger Sett (a mixed four pack). Okay for a Summer party or BBQ. oh6gdx (6459), Vaasa, Finland Aug 31, 2008 Bottled@Chris O Post GBBF tasting.Amber colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is malts, hops and quite blag.
