Joeh (1892), Buckinghamshire, England Jan 30, 2008 99p Bottle from Somerfield. After two rancid Badger beers in a row I had worries about this. Pours a brown colour with a lasting head. Aroma of a sticky, malty bitter, slight sourness. Flavour is quite sweet with a harsh bitterness and lots of biscuity malt. Hard to say exactly but it reminds me of a lot of cheaper, mass produced bitters, poor ingredients?
HogcliffeLenny (134), Christchurch, England May 19, 2008 Bottle 500ml from Somerfield. Pours a clear orangey brown colour with a thin off-white film for a head. A hoppy aroma but nothing special. This follows through to the taste, hoppy but little to distinguish it from the most average of ales. Quite thin and watery. Bitter aftertaste but not exactly long lasting. I guess you get what you pay for, this bottle cost £1.23 and I still think it is overpriced! imdownthepub (3995), Banbury, Oxfordshire, Oxfordshire, England Jan 1, 2008 Keg, as Extra smooth, in the Masons Arms, Marylebone, London. Muddy brown, aerated, big soapy head. Ok, a quick half for a rating, its just an homogenous mess really, full of Nitrogen, burping for England afterwards. It’s done now. DownsouthGav (602), Greater London, England Oct 9, 2007 Bought from Sainsburys. Pours a brown colour beer. Nose is of malt and molasses with faint hops. Taste is malty with bitter hops. Average. oldPeculiarHen (14), East Yorkshire Coast, England Sep 18, 2007 Badger original ale, bought from Somerfield for 89p, oppposed to all other bottles at £1.62. Very hoppy taste, slightly malty and hints of caramel. A slightly intrusive carbonation however. Appearance is pleasant, with minimal head. A very average, forgettable ale, however is still very pleasant. If you take the time to appreciate the ale; I think it is far more rewarding, rather than knocking it back like cold lager.
