wheresthepath (252), Buckinghamshire, England Oct 11, 2008 [Cash handpull at Back of Beyond, Reading] Rather tired looking gold colour with a minimal white head. As fruity as you’d expect from Badger. A vague sulphur taste which reminded me of Wells Bombadier and some tired dusty hops completed what for me was a disappointing brew. I remember being unimpressed with this in the past, so it’s not just a one-off. I don’t understand why this is the flagship Badger ale, when they make much better beers - Golden Glory and Hopping Hare are far better! JoeMcPhee (3815), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Sep 20, 2008 Hazy pale amber beer with a nice tight white head. The aroma is quite light here. A bit of salty/briny character over a soft Maris Otter malt base. Fairly herbal with a prominent earthy/mushroomy character. Fuggles hoppiness and a moderately bitter finish. Lightly chewy and resiny. Unique brew. DruncanVeasey (1737), No. 46, Leicestershire, Germany Aug 1, 2008 Somewhere in Horsham. Headless red amber stillness. Resiny hopsack snout with berry fruit. Green and red. Marzipan showing at 5%. Biscuit and oaty afters. A bit astringent and tired, but smells great. Watery strawberryish fruit and yeast, but mostly marzipan. Probably a much better beer in decent condition. bobinlondon (220), Harrow, Greater London, England Jul 9, 2008 Handpulled cask at JDW Stanmore. Amber with a good off-white head. Malty with a faint hoppiness. This is a shadow of the beer I tried in the early 1980’s. What has gone wrong? EHSRanders (713), Randers C, Denmark Jun 5, 2008 Cask at Prince Edward - Bayswater. Clear amber colour with small creamy off-white mostly lasting head. Fruity aroma. Sweet bitter flavor and finish.
