presario (2447), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Aug 13, 2007 Thick head. Brown beer. Not getting much scent. Good body. Dry delicate chocolate. Some fruit and then hops. very drinkable and smooth. MartinT (4377), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jul 26, 2007 My Bottom Line:
This complex Porter exhibits roastiness and molasses developing chocolatey and fruity side flavors. The balancing earthy hop finish lingers nicely, yet the overall effect is less than the sum of its parts.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy head decorates the darkest brown.
-Vanilla adds more depth to the already layered maltiness.
-The body is lean and active, yet I was expecting more from an anniversary selection.
-The bottled version was a faithful rendition of the tapped.
On tap at The Aldgate, and later from the bottle. Capa (738), Yokosuka, Japan Jun 14, 2007 Molasses in color with a small tan head. Roasted malts, milk chocolate, vanilla fill out the aroma. Solid, but could be stronger. Very tasty. Milky chocolate, lightly roasted malts, vanilla, and bittersweet coffee. Finishes with some sweetness and bitter maltiness. Medium, properly carbonated body. A very enjoyable porter. Different and delicious. TimE (1037), Tokyo, Japan May 31, 2007 Light brown color, thick ivory white head. Very sweet milk chocolate, lactose, vanilla, caccao nose. The theme continues in the mouth and almost is cloying, but just stops short. Lasting caccao, sweet vanilla finish. Very different, but very tasty. This was like no porter I have tried before.
