Hazy, golden ale with a small, creamy, white head. The nose is fruity and malty with notes of butterscotch, toffee, apricot and grapefruit. The flavor is of pine, pineapple and apricot with a hint of toffee. Full-bodied with an astringent mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Lengthy, bitter finish. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 8, 2003 Thick lacing pour with a bubby, creamy white head. Orangeish to light copper color. Bit of a musty/malty aroma to it - not grapefruity like some hoppy IPAs - but not unpleasant. Flavor - good hoppiness to it - not so much to make you grit your teeth - but the Cascades definitely are pumping through. Overall, not bad for a beer I picked up in a health food store (really the only reason I was in there). Suttree (2732), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

It’s just, well, bland. The words "mild", "mellow", "understated" and "subtle" figure way to prominently in my notes. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 10, 2004 Fairly malty IPA is quite pleasant, but despite the obvious marketing gimmick, the influence from bagels is practically non-existent; Flavorful, but generic maltiness is balanced by a moderately bitter hops; Orange in color and slightly cloudy; Mildly hoppy nose also has a slight chocolate aroma in the background; Bubbly, off white head has good retention and significant lacing notalush (2668), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 20, 2004 draught at brewtopia - I quite liked this one - amber/brown in color, not much head - bready aroma, with moderate hops and some spice and herbal notes - same with the flavor - quite a malty IPA, but the sweetness is balanced well with the hops and biscuit/bread-like aspects of this ale (they’re not kidding when the say "well bread beer") - I thought this was a pretty classic IPA. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 11, 2003 Appearance suffers from a lame label, but points for the 22 oz bottle, the rafting ice cream foam, and the deep citrine brew. The aroma is the standard west coast IPA Cascade hop assault, bordering on being uric. Smells like when I open a sealed pak of hops to brew at home. In-your-face hop leading edge, quickly turning semi-sweet and plummy, then drying out. Sweet on the lips. Long, mild hop finish. Volgon (2489), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA
