Deep black with a big head that fades fast. Nice coffee bitterness in the initial sip that fades into a smoother chocolate and malt flavor. There is a pervasive thinness to this that makes it come off feeling like a pale ale in the mouth, but the flavor is above average. Hoss (602), Florida, USA

Aroma of chocolate malt and espresso.
Taste is surprisingly good. Might be in my head, but I do detect the pumpernickel in there. Creamy, smooth,
well done. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA

I can just imagine them tossing bagels into the batch. Really smooth and you don’t have to look hard to taste the pumpernickel. Nice coffee and chocolate tastes are well balanced as well. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 2, 2004 Black with a tan head. Nose was roasted coffee infused with chocolate. Bagel? I think not. Pumpernickel? No way. Creamy mouthfeel. Flavor of the roasted coffee-chocolate. Nothing exceptional here except the name.
