Mar 22, 2005 Updated: Apr 2, 2007Bottled (my 5000th rating at Ratebeer) Bakalar 10° is still my highest rated Czech beer on my own page, even though the old brewery closed down long ago, and I have the old Pivovar Rakovnik poster still on my wall. So it was a delight to find the beers from the re-opened Pivovar Rakovnik at Pivnie Galeri in Prague.</br>
It poured deep golden with rich head and a spicy, somewhat metallic aroma. It was dry with dense, soft malt character, low on diacetyl. Rather bitter finish. It was probably more technically correct than the version from the old brewery, but also with much less character.

Jul 3, 2008 Bottled. Golden colour with mediumsized white fluffy head. Aroma is sweet malts along with some metallic notes as well as quite much grass/hay. Flavour is sweet malts, quite much grassy and hayish hoppy notes. Quite clean and no metallic notes in the flavour at all.
