Gold with a medium white head steadily shrinking to a thin, foamy top, it leaves hints of weak lace.
The aroma, very Czech, is strong grain, lemon, herbs, with bread crust and mineral.
The taste is, very fresh, airy and crisp with strong, zesty herbal character. Faintly minty, it has lemon rind over toasted grain. It is aromatic and a light sweetness underlies a persistent, just dominant, aromatic herbal bitterness that lingers. It is is light but zesty and lively.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 27, 2009 500ml bottle. Filtered pale amber-yellow color. Big, frothy, and quickly dissipating head. Crisp lager-house Saazy hop aroma. Lots of doughy yeast character. with the distinctive Eastern-European spicy Saaz hopping. Unfortunately there is also a thin, macro grainy feel to it. Sugary in a way as well. Still drinkable, enjoyable, and refreshing. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 11, 2008 10-May-08 (500-ml bottle with a competition label only: Free sample bottle for stewarding the 2008 World Beer Cup in San Diego, CA) Nice malty nose shows the typical sweet breadiness, but hops are very light and there’s a bit of oxidation. Bready, lightly sweet malt base is pleasant, and the hops are spicy and lightly bitter. Pretty nice flavor profile and beautifully balanced, and it’s a style I really enjoy, but it does start showing some oxidative notes as it warms. Medium-bodied with medium carbonation. Some crispness in the mouthfeel from gentle hoppy bitterness. Pale-golden in color and quite clear, but there are some floaties spoiling the view. White head pours almost an inch in height. The carbonation bubbles are a bit large, but surprisingly, the head doesn’t collapse like you’d expect from the large bubbles. Overall, quite a nice Czech pilsener.
